Internship in Trade Surveillance Team

Your role

We are looking for someone like that who can help us:

– perform surveillance of order and trade activity carried out by UBS and its clients on European trading venues and conducting investigations using industry leading surveillance tools across Trade Surveillance, Email Communications and Audio Communications tools
– prepare comprehensive analysis/reports of issues which will stand up to scrutiny by internal stakeholders and regulators
– influence automated alert and manual control design and effectiveness by contributing to periodic meetings to maintain an accurate and effective program
– collaborate with relevant stakeholders that include, but are not limited to, onshore Trade Surveillance team, E-communication Monitoring team and Fraud Pattern Recognition
– enhance existing routines and continuously develop the monitoring program to address changing regulatory expectations
– manage data and documentation up to set standards

Your team

You’ll be working in the team based in Zabierzow, Krakow Business Park. Our role is to ensure market abuse and abuse of sensitive UBS or client's information is prevented and that internal policies are complied with safeguarding UBS's reputation against legal and regulatory risks. The team monitors automated alerts generated against order and trading activity to identify potential instances of market abuse (insider dealing, market manipulation). The team is using an industry leading third party surveillance tool that generates alerts for review where order/trading activity meets the alert scenario parameters, highlighting potential instances of market abuse that require further investigation. The team collaborates with London Based Trade Surveillance team, business aligned compliance advisory teams, the Control Room, Regulatory Inquiries & Investigations Group and other teams within Monitoring & Surveillance and Control.

Your experience and skills

You don’t have to demonstrate any previous experience but if you have one, it’s an asset.

You have:
– skills and student status or university degree in finance or economics
– very good written and spoken English
– inquisitive nature with a genuine drive to assist with investigations and analysis 
– the ability to take responsibility and stay focused on objectives with a can-do-attitude
– strong attention to detail

You are:
– interested in financial markets 
– analytical, with a knack for analyzing intraday stock and market patterns
– team oriented, while able to compete tasks independently
– reliable when working independently, with sound judgment for when to escalate issues
